Nor to take any accountability of our behavior or heaven forbid choose to educate ourselves on the needs of animals and perhaps uplift the current consciousness on the island of disposable pet mentality.

A brilliant pioneer in animal rights is Temple Grandin, there's a great documentary out about her. An autistic woman who has a gift of seeing patterns of herding animals who managed to apply her knowledge to slaughterhouses to minimize trauma to the animals which of course also saves the industry tons of money or they would never have listened to her. Regardless, why not choose to be humane and minimize the cruelty?
