This whole Marcus OSHIRO Bill is troubling on many fronts. The most troubling is that the few, connected, businessmen and lawmakers who are AWARDED the first dispensary licenses are going FULL OUT in establishing and maintaining a total monopoly on "legal" cannibus in Hawaii. Making one of my earlier statements ring louder: Green harvest will return....and fail again. The friends of legislators like Oshiro will stand at nothing less than total control. They will fail.
Another troubling piece is reciprocity -- the piece in the new dispensary law that honors out of state medicinal patient cards. Now here is how the dispensaries get immediately tied in to the visitor industry. Because now, tourists don't need to go "kimo the surfer" to find some smoke. They can simply go in to one of the dispensaries and purchase to their heart's (and lungs) content! Remember, there are 23 legal states and counting. This is a HUGE piece that not too many people are talking about. So in all reality, the dispensary system will work great for tourists, as well as for the more populated sectors of the state like Oahu. They will then use tax revenue to make the cops happy and justify further green harvest-like initiative in the "high grow" areas of Puna, Ka'u, Big Island, Kauai, Molokai. The politics around all of this is relentless. It is ALL politics and money my friends.
One suggestion? GO TO GREGGOR NOW and see where he stands. He will soundly defeat Russell and align himself with the Oshiros and others of this legislative world. Russell has no current power or influence in the narrative. It is Greggor and Joy that folks will need to make sure are truly representing areas like Puna...that stand to get the sh*ty end of the stick once again -- based upon Oahu politics that rarely care for people outside of Oahu. Truth.
