Sounds to me like you've got it covered. Wild chickens here are much the same as on Kauai, faster at everything, they roost really high, and take off flying on a dime. They're stronger too, even if they are smaller. They are efficient survivors.
Our Hand raised Rhode Island Reds are fat and slow and love their amenities . They would struggle to survive without feed, but I think they could.
They all lay good eggs if you can find them.
