4 of the 5 poorest locales in the state are on the Big Island. Three of them are in PUNA. The other, Ocean View. Naturally a lot goes into determining what constitutes poor -- be it #'s of people employed, land values, schools, etc. Where ever there is a congregation of poor, there will be activities associated with poverty. One of them being crime. There is no end in sight my friends. As the State grows increasingly unaffordable to its local residents, many new residents will make Puna home for the foreseeable future. Get a dog...or two. And LOCK your sh** up! Be vigilant.
