With all the shootings lately, there is no doubt the proliferation of hand guns on Hawaii island is starting to match the mainland. Adoption of mainland street thug gangsta replacing Hawaiian culture was apparent to me a few years ago. Nothing has changed except validation. So many people come here and complain, complain, complain, why isn't this Illinois, or why isn't this Michigan, or why isn't this California, or why isn't this Arizona. My definition for malihini is the visitor that moves their body here but leaves their mind on the mainland, even if their visit has been many years. They are eternal malihini.

Funny how total contempt for the local police has now flip-flopped to them doing a good job. Talk about bipolar.

"Aloha also means goodbye. Aloha!"

Most of the violent crime here seems to be local on local crime, some of these families have beefs that go back generations, just ask any cop, they'll tell you. I do wonder how much of the increase in violent crime is because criminals are being shipped to mainland prisons, where they learn how to be real criminals, instead of having them serve their time here.

Movement from Oahu to the BI by professional lowlifes seems to be a trend, we had real winners move next door from Waianae, they paid the deposit and first months rent and then never gave the landlord another cent, it took her almost 2 years to get them out and they destroyed the inside of the house and were probably the source of a mini crime spree in the area, since it ended when they finally left.

Reading the Big Island Thieves FB page was an eye opener, there are a lot of guns being stolen from homes and businesses! The more guns people bring with them when they move here, the more guns there are to get stolen and end up in the hands of criminals.
