The livestock feed stores have been consistently out of something every time we go for at least the last year. After the third week being told that they were out of poultry feed they told us that the shipping companies prioritize human goods first and that there wasn't enough room to ship all the livestock goods containers. I don't know if their story is true or if they are just bad at maintaining inventory. On the other hand, livestock feed has a very short shelf life here. We've had to return bags of feed that were moldy or infested. It's not like they can order a bunch of stuff ahead of time. It's part of the just-in-time / credit based supply chain that our economy is now based on.
Stocking problems in store shelves? Asking such a question makes it sound like you aren't from around here. Go to Walmart, Cost-U-Less, or Target on certain days of the week and there are entire sections of shelves that are empty.
It's not just a supply chain issue, there aren't enough stores here for the population. They are always frustratingly full of people to the point the staff can't restock the shelves except during the rare slow times and when the store is closed.
