Some GMO Labeling Starts July 1st
#8
I am curious about that expense driven market argument. It certainly appears to be the main force behind most people's shopping habits. Especially if the parking lot at Walmart is any indication. Though on a much smaller scale Island Naturals does a pretty brisk business as well. I wonder if the Nat were to expand their product line to cover all the things Wally's does but of a better quality would they compete head to head?

I think in a lot of ways our national standards set the tone of people's buying habits. Most people do not seem to take direct responsibility for their's rather they expect that the government is protecting them and go about their day. I certainly do not believe that people as a whole have faced the GMO issue and made conscious decisions to eat GMO products. As such I feel that labeling is the first step towards presenting people with that choice and look forward to seeing if with it their buying habits change.
