I respectfully disagree about campaign funding not defining "any candidate whatsoever." It is a classic way that influence is exerted. People do not donate money with no expectations, whether it is to a charity or a politician. Of course there are varying degrees of expectations, and there is a tipping point at which tit for tat becomes too much even for our wide open system. I'm not suggesting that Ilagan is at that tipping point, btw. I just wish he would be honest and not try to distract us with old stories and irrelevancies.
I am aware of the DHHL and HPP communities' opposition to PMAR. I attended some of the HPP meetings a few years ago, and the county's heavy handed approach sank them with many here in HPP. I personally have serious reservations about PMAR because of the likely lack of compensation and mitigation to the community for the damage of having a highway across it. My entire point here is that Ilagan continues to try to evade taking a definitive stand on this and other controversial issues. He will say, "I support alternative routes," but he won't directly say whether he supports a new highway across his home subdivision of HPP and the land of his Shipman partners.
I have a problem with obfuscation.
