The only way to know where neighboring houses are going to be in relation to your home is to build between two existing homes, other than that you only have the legal setbacks to protect yourself. You chose to build right on the setback line, instead of in the middle of your lot, now you are paying the price because your new neighbor is doing the same. Posting your new neighbor's email address on a public forum and requesting total strangers send him scolding emails is certainly not how you build a good relationship with someone who will be a "close" neighbor and shows exactly zero aloha.
He probably is so pissed off at your crappy attitude at this point that he has no desire to listen to you, but any Argus house plan can be flipped at no extra cost.
