Spent a wonderful day today. Planted the first 12 coffee trees. We are using a tractor with an auger, but the grass roots are 18 inches deep so we do a lot of hand stripping to get the holes in. Then, since we decided to go totally organic, we placed a shovel full of pig poop, two to three shovels of balck cinder and then refilled the holes with a mixture of the clay-like soil and peat moss. Each hole is 3 feet deep. The trees are only about 1 to 2 feet tall,so it should take a season for the roots to make it down to the "fertilizer" which should be well cured by then. We expect to get another hundred or so trees this weekend.
I am told that green tea does well up here too and we may need to plant a field of that too. Gotta learn to be a country girl! After a day in dirt, pig poop, peat moss and dragging around on the tractor, I sure did cherish my bubble bath...
Aloha. Pam
Just another day in P A R A D I S E !!

I want to be the kind of woman that, when my feet
hit the floor each morning, the devil says
"Oh Crap, She's up!"
