We had an LG stainless steel microwave. It started rusting after about 3 months. The microwave stopped working literally almost a day after the 1 year warranty expired. It was eerie like there is a timer built inside that causes a self destruct.
I almost bought a Samsung microwave to replace it, then I went online and read the reviews HOLY SMOKES do people hate Samsung appliances. Pretty to look at but the guts are junk.
Our Whirlpool dishwasher lasted less than 3 months before the wash pump went out.
We have 3 GE appliances. One of them needed a push-button switch repaired after about a year. Other than that they have been running without incident for about 5 years.
Based on what I've bought in the last 5 years, I would stick with GE.
Don't buy from Lowes.
If you can't afford an extended warranty, buy a less expensive appliance that you can afford the warranty on.
Our repair guy told us modern appliances are junk and only expected to last as long as the warranty is. My dad's fridge is about 30 years old and it's never had a repair, they literally don't make them like that any more.
