Who, living in the Puna District where precipitation is relatively abundant, and living in a subdivision, would be foolish enough to use ground water for household purposes where catchment or a county supplied water system is their alternative?
Foolish? Hmmm... Don't have access to county water and being on half an acre, didn't want a tank taking up space. Given the options, to some it's a wise decision. During drought conditions, we're able to water all of our plants for however long we please. Never a concern w/drought conditions. No maintenance of a catchment tank...
Biggest downside is when we lose power for a prolonged period of time.
