ohia trees butchered in hawaiian acres
#18
Hawaiian Telcom is in the process of placing high speed internet to many of the under served neighborhoods on the big island. From what a friend told me is that they are placing fiber for all of 10th (Poouli), all of 11th (Pulelehua) and about half of 40th ave. She mentioned that some of these areas are fiber to the home which is going to produce internet speeds that cant be matched. There are many other areas that will be fiber fed also such as Leilani Estates, Fern Forest, Eden Roc, Orchid Land and a few other areas i cant remember. I know this because i always ask her when me and my family can get internet hooked up and have been patiently waiting for them to build in this area. I hope this negative view towards Hawaiian telcoms efforts wont bring any of these projects to a halt. Dish is too expensive and unreliable so i take my kids to their grandparents house or one of my friends house in town where they can use the wifi and do their homework and research for projects. The forest will regrow without a doubt but if we miss out on the chance to have high speed internet that may not ever happen again. I believe THAT is a bigger loss for our community and families.
