Look up stats for US citizens WITH carry permits who misuse their firearms. November 1st, 1976, I had a thug smash his way into my house late at night. I had a carry permit, but this was IN my house. I used my firearm to handle the situation, and did it with the best possible results. The bad buy (one Fred Brotherson, who the cops new by name) was held at gunpoint till the police came and hauled him away. No shots fired. Didn't need to, as he played it smart and did not attack, and was not armed. Even if you are anti-gun, you can't ask for more than that. I guess I could have wrapped him up with Christmas wrapping paper and bow.

I suppose I could have just blasted him to meet his maker, but, guess what. Just because some of us want to be able to own a firearm, that doesn't mean we are going to go around blasting people.
