So two days after the "transfer from the Kona store" was supposed to take place, I did not receive the promised phone call from Home Depot that the chainsaw was ready for me to pick up.
I knew this meant I would have to go into the store again and deal with another bout of frustration, so I mentally prepared myself to experience a very high degree of frustration, and Home Depot did not fail to deliver.
I went to the pickup desk and explained everything that happened and they had no idea what I was talking about. Transfer a chain saw from the Kona store? No, they didn't do that. Definitely nothing like that came from Kona. Sigh. Deep breath. Not her fault. Think happy thoughts.
Long story short, I walked out of there with my chain saw. Not because they did anything right, but because there happened to be one on the shelf.
