Must opinions be substantiated? (TMT examples)

I'm not going to get sucked into this forum again however I check it from time to time for info on local issues. That said I do have one little bitty comment on this subject:

Even though I disagree with most but not all of gypsy's opinions, I am quite impressed with how graciously he responds to rude and inappropriate posts directed at him.
