Costco announced last year that they had postponed indefinitely any plans to build in East Hawaii due to unreasonably high construction costs. Lowe's could be another matter, though. They DO have a habit of putting one across the street from a lot of Home Depot stores, but I haven't heard about a Hilo location. My experience with Lowe's on the mainland was that they were friendlier and better organized than Home Depot.
