HPP 2018
#10
Joe, HPP has a history of bickering going back to the 90's when so many HPP members were suing the hui and each other that Judge Nakamura put it into receivership. The receivership period is referred to by old timers as a "golden age" with professional management and decent road maintenance. Unfortunately, the judge eventually allowed a supposedly reformed HPPOA to take over from the pros. It's been downhill ever since.

As to why we can't get along, I think it's because most of the people who seek to be on the board are either in it for the power or have unrealistic views that the thing should be something like a mainland homeowners' association. I have seen otherwise respectable people stoop to childish power trips and ethical meltdowns once they got into the HPP power structure. That's why I support Joy Sanbuenaventura's legislation that would provide oversight or even a method to abolish the mess and throw back into the county's lap where it belongs. After all, it was the county that started the whole problem by breaking their own laws.
