Has anyone ever used one of these plugs?

Not sure if it will release smoke but it won't work for those loads.

Extent of smoke/damage will vary with the specific appliance. Most 220V appliances (eg, electric dryer) have 110V components that will work fine (motor, timer/controller) but the 220V side will see an effective 0V.

Dare I ask what terracore is trying to accomplish here?
