New to HPP, you said you were at the board meeting which means you observed both of your district 2 candidates giving reports. I'll post some of the information here so others can hear what's going on w/the mailbox committees.
Dist2 R Mizuba right out of the gate said the Members Mailbox Committee was circumventing her board mailbox committee. As you heard, after several minutes complaining about them, she started her report. They hired an attorney who told them the only restriction for the deed restricted land is they can't build residential structures. R Mizuba said they have $100,000 that was earmarked several yrs ago. Someone in the peanut gallery later asked her to post the attorney letter on the website. The deed being black and white only parks and schools, it'd be good for the members to see the attorney letter themselves. She agreed to have the letter posted. The board's mailbox committee has no recent meeting minutes on the website and don't have scheduled meetings so members can attend = no transparency.
Mary Couch gave her report during owner input since the board wouldn't put the Members Mailbox Committee on the agenda as she requested. She said they are researching many options. That their committee is trying to be transparent...they have meeting minutes but the board won't post them on the website. They welcome members to attend their meetings but the board won't let them schedule meetings on the HPP calendar. They're on a walk in basis only. The office staff has told them that the board has to approve them first. The bylaws say because the membership voted to form this committee, they are 100% legit. The board doesn't have to "approve" this committee and appears to be undermining the membership's vote.
