Living in a home that is safe for your family is obviously your prime concern, but trying to get a permit from the county for your home often has nothing to do with the safety of your family.
Contacting the county about permitting your home can open a can of worms that you might regret. Like others have said, find a contractor that you trust and have them take a look at the home's waste, electric and plumbing systems. Also have them look a the structural integrity of the home. You probably have termites.
