Police - deny looting is ocurring
#25

There is no allure in taking someone’s life. The point I’m making is police have no obligation by law to protect your life and/or property. It is up to the individual to protect their property and life. Whether you choose to or not is an individual choice.

And no, you do not know the intentions of a thief. A thief could commit an armed robbery against you, but his intentions were only to rob you. Do you have the right to use deadly force against that thief? How am I suppose to know that this thief’s intentions were to only rob me and not cause physical harm? As far as I’m concerned, he is armed and he can cause physical harm to me. A thief breaks into you home in the middle of the night while you are sleeping. You have young children in your home. How do you know that is a thief breaking into your home only wanting to steal a couple things and not a child rapist? You don’t know and you do not know their intentions. I roll up onto my driveway and a see a thief putting my toolbox into the bed of his pickup truck and he is not armed. Would I be justified in using deadly physical force on him? Of course not unless he takes a tool out of the toolbox and threatens to cause death or serious physical injury. It comes down to common sense when you can and cannot use deadly force.

I agree, the vast majority of thief’s just want to take your stuff without incident, but there could come a time where that thief is accidentally confronted because you just rolled home from the beach or store and thief’s will do what ever they can to avoid going to jail. Hopefully they just run away.
