Homeowners whose property was destroyed in the eruption had their property taxes "zeroed" because the value of their property became zero. Unless the value of business properties in Pahoa has become zero, they should not get their property taxes waived. I suppose a case could be made for reappraisals in some instances based on recent changes in circumstances, but there would still be value well above zero.
