We went to the "other" Thai restaurant in Pahoa (I don't remember the name either) in our first week in Puna. We thought that the food was a very good rendition of standard dishes, but that the menu did not show a lot of creativity. The restaurant was almost empty, and service was friendly but slow. Then someone recommended Ning's, and we tried it and found that the quality was at least as good as the first place and the menu was much more interesting. We went back to Ning's almost weekly for the rest of our stay. The service was almost always at least somewhat chaotic, but the food was worth the wait.
