The economic impact of the shutdown is surely much greater than the cost of the wall. Look at how many in Hawaii alone are federal employees. Think of all their unpayed bills, all the businesses they are not frequenting, etc...

At this point the country is being held hostage to the pride (and re-election hopes) of both sides. It has nothing to do with saving money.
