Lava is really pretty interesting. If you go to the lighthouse at the tip by Kapoha you see where the lava in 1960 came right up to the base of the lighthouse and then split and went around it.

Near there, you can see a cinder mining operation. And there are old cinder cones around Leilani and Lanipuna.

On the red road along the coast there is a nice mixture of lavas, a'a and pahoehoe.
At Lava Tree Park you can see a bunch of interesting lava trees where lava came up out of cracks, surrounded trees and then drained away leaving casts of the trees.

And at Volcano park you can see all kinds of nice lava including hot lava.

Be sure and stop by the steam vents at Volcano. When we were there it was so chilly that standing in the steam felt really good.
