The Hawaii Primary held in March of 2016 was both a caucus and a Presidential Preference Poll. It was a vote for for the Democratic presidential primary candidates which included Sanders and Clinton. Sanders did in fact win the Hawaii primary. The Electoral College didn't play a roll in any of the state primaries, however, only in the national election which took place in November of 2016.
