Bill 108, short term rental when living on site?
#3
I'm not 100% sure but I think you still have to go through the permit process and apply for TAT license and get a zoning exception. The only thing living on the rental does for you is allow you to get those two things. I think you also still need to fit the criteria of operating legally prior to the cut off date and have paid a cycle of TAT/GET on the rental already.

It's past the deadline now, so I think you're too late, but I could be wrong. If you don't have a TAT now, you're already illegal.

quote:
If you were thinking about buying a rental home now, no new vacation rentals will be allowed in residential or agricultural zones, so it is already too late to buy a home that has never been rented and market the property on Airbnb or VRBO.com, or buy vacant land and build a home with the intention of renting it out for short term vacation use. You won’t be able to get a permit and will be subject to fines by the County if you get caught running an illegal rental business.

This article has probably already been shared here, but it's quite interesting the $5.6 million spent in shutting down vacation rentals. Check out the leaked documents from the lobbyists.
