Wireless broadband providers need to purchase the land they want to put a tower on. I have seen this happen all over (not just puna). A handshake, and give free internet for that tower on the roof never works out in the long run. Worse yet when you have hundreds of customers who go dark because of the fickle arrangement.
I once had some wireless provider out there before I got the fiber from Hawaiian Telecom. It was the most substandard connection I had ever seen and customer service was nonexistent. I am not sure if it was Aloha or that other outfit as it was a long time ago. Even Sat internet was better although limited in download data.
