Or it could be the slug made its way into the sandwich post restaurant. With all the recent rain slugs are/were literally crawling out from under the rocks, making quite a presence in Puna. Around the same time I was at party held in a large wedding type tent. The slugs were crawling up the tarp near the food table. I also saw another near where we were eating ready to crawl right onto an unattended plate.

I think it has a lot of merit no denial from the restaurant. Owner saying that they will not buy local lettuce any more.
