A note to terracore: I also have USAA for my auto insurance, and for my home. I know your posts are usually spot on, but I wanted to let you know a good reason why I kept the USAA for my home instead of going with another less expensive company policy. I realize that everyone's situation is different, but after the 2014 eruption, I shopped around, and it turns out that costs really do reflect what is covered. My basic policy coverage includes the cost of removal of debris of my damaged home ( a biggie in case of hurricane, earthquake or fire), and rental costs for 12 months while home is being rebuilt, something the less expensive policies did not cover.
