Have enjoyed reading all the information you all graciously share.
My fiance and I hope to be building north of Hilo sometime this summer. We have never built our own home before, but have been homeowners multiple times and have experience remodeling. My question is, when hiring a licensed electrician as an owner/builder, does that electrician have to be licensed in Hawaii? My fiance's brother is a licensed electrician here in Washington, and is interested in taking a long Hawaii vacation and helping us with the electrical work. Is that a problem? (I know it wouldn't be for him. [

Also, I'd love to hear from other owner/builders about their experiences. I did read the moon over hawaii blog which was very insightful.
