Have you pulled the house up in the county tax site? It may be related to the "grade" that the county applies to the structure(s) for tax value assessment.
Side note, there's a monolithic dome in the Ranchos that got assessed as crap (like grade C or D), for no reason I can see (it's built nicely). Like $30k value on a 800 sq/ft house. Neighbor has a typical timber frame house with a pile of junk cars next to it, same sq/ft, assessed at $150k building value.
