you've got to be kidding, right?
Nope not kidding.
November/December 05 I rented a house in Hawaiian beaches. It was at the end of the street, one empty lot away from neighbor on most sides. From dusk to dawn there was only one thing I could hear.
Not a single dog, not a chicken, no cars, people, nuthin but Coqui.
However during day light, Although I never actually saw these things, just heard em, there were at least three dogs nearby especially one protecting its yard, , some chickens down the way, a Harley rider within 100 feet, neighbors chatting, occasional yelling, some probable beer drinking activity, somebody nearby needed a new muffler, and other usual sounds.
When the sound of these surrounds your home, neighborhood, you may as I did, discover the chickens down the street, those packs of yelping dogs, them arguing neighbors weren't so bad compared to The Hawaiian Coqui
It's like, when the sun returns so does paradise.
The one Coqui I encountered, caught, last Dec-07 at night. Took me 'like' five minutes to zero in on him with my flashlight, standing a few feet from him. Eventually as he sounded off I got within inches and grabbed him. What surprised me though was; Even my presence and flash light gleaming all around it, in contrast to most critters, did not stop this guy from chirping.
