I use the free HeleOn bus service whenever I can (almost daily trips to Hilo to the university & shopping & such), have the highest MGP car I could find in '02, & am trying to reduce the amount of electricity I use, which is just behind transportation on this island for petroleum importing & consumption.
Isn't the "free" HeleOn Bus awesome! My wife started working at the Hilton Waikaloa. While in training she drove everyday, but now that training is over she rides the HeleOn Bus to Waikaloa.
I wonder how long the HeleOn Bus will remain free? I imagine at some point county officials will state that they must start charging to ride the HeleOn Bus to off-set operation cost & gas cost too. Currently who pays for it's operation...taxpayers?
I too am starting to use electricity as little as possible in my house. Once I move into my new house on 3rd Ave. in HPP is will switch out all the my lightbulbs in house for more energy effcient lightbulbs. Several of my lights will be flourcent kind. I wish my entire home could be a "Green Home", but who can afford that in Hawaii?
