One of our neighbors built a Bali House - something of a nightmare process for her.
After her 1st contractor took her to the cleaners she had to go back to work.
Some problem with the roof, something missing as I recall, but end result was the house sat open to weather, roofless for about a year, yep all that beautiful wood.
Not sure if she's passed final, but 3 years later she is finally living in it.
My suggestion should you go this style, be sure to find a contractor who has actually built it, then talk with those clients while you scope out their house.
