Finally got UV Light system hooked up, but...

It sounds like your tank was recently built and at least partly filled by tanker truck? We've found that when we get that half to three quarter tank load of water, it has a bad taste until the rainwater has a chance to dilute it.

Have you looked in your tank to see if you already have debris or algae growth? Have you had your water tested to see how your treatment is working?

I believe that you have a two filter system with UV treatment after that. If you got your setup from Hawaii Catchment, chances are that you have a 20 micron sediment filter followed by a 5 micron combo (fiber/carbon block). The 5 micron filter should be enough to cleanup the taste. Ask the people at Hawaii Catchment.

Les, today is my third day with my UV setup. It appears that the filters have done their job. I barely smell anything and water is crystal clear!

Yes, my UV setup with two filters is from Hawaii Catchment Co.. They also built my new catchment and yes gave me 1/2 tank of water too. Tank is full now, so I'm sure that helped in getting rid of this extremely nasty smell.

I wish I had known about the 'First Wash', when I had these guys build my catchment. I would have asked them to install it for me. I'm worried about constant debris falling onto my roof from surrounding Albeiza trees. So having friend cut back trees is next project, and building a kennel for dog[s] at night not to far behind..
