The Weather Channel periodically runs a feature on tsunamis which includes a discussion of the Hilo tsunami. It includes an interview with local tsunami survivor, Yoshi, who lives in Hawaiian Paradise Park. He is very charming and has an interesting and miraculous story to tell. He is walking down the street when he sees and then is swept up by the water. As he is floating along, he sees a surfboard drifting by. He recognizes it as belonging to his brother. He gets on the surfboard and is carried to a house. He dismounts and is greeted by his mother, who sought refuge in the house. His entire family survived.
