I've been living here full-time for only 6 weeks, but now I know I am officially here! I killed my first centipede today. Only 2-3 inches long, but still pretty creepy (no pun intended). It crawled out from under some old yard waste I was moving. Fortunately I was wearing plastic garden gloves so it could not bite me when I pinched its head off and pinched the body a few more times. Hope that took care of it. Maybe I'll keep my hatchet on me from now on.
