Glen,
When I talked to a couple of them the last time I was in Hilo, they wern't all that well paid. I don't remember the numbers, but they were definately not impressive.

Also, I believe the courts have been fairly consistent in ruling that it's legal, you should know. That said, I wouldn't want them buzzing my house very often and the county has expressed it's opinion.
