Electric costs in Puna
#12
quote:
$50 a month from April through Sept, then jumps as high as $300 a month Oct through March.

300 bucks in Oregon at 7 cents a KiloWatt? Wow.. I'm from oregon too and had a 1500SQ FT home all electric and we never got over 100 bucks a month yes even in winter.

Well, in hawaii power is a sticker shock. Then you come to the Big Island and it's even more of a sticker shock. I don't know why power is any more expensive from Oahu to Hilo...

Anyway... Average cost per kilowatthour
Residential is 31.03 per hour vs. 7 cents for Oregon. You can do the math... Basically air condoning is not in your vocabulary unless your rich...

Your coming from Hydro Power to Old clunky generators that run off dino fuel here in hawaii.

Best bet is to run anything that is 220 off of gas and buy the most efficient appliances you can.
