Meeting and Petition for Pesky Helicopters

after having gone to your web site at and read your petition, which in spirit I firmly agree with, I would suggest that, if you want to succeed, you retain the services of a lawyer to help in its re-writing. the language used is too inflammatory. and, when you consider that the intended recipients of your petition are law makers, it is not written in such a way as to provide them with a cut and paste set of words that would adapt well to legislation that would eventually have to be written if your efforts are to bear fruit. making noise about something you dont like is one thing, succeeding in causing change is another, and takes a whole lot more thought and preparation.

I live in a primary flight path of tours coming over from the south kohala area and have tried in several ways to get them to stop flying over my area, all with no success, I applaud your efforts. I wish them to succeed. but can not imagine, without seriously re-writing of the petition, that you have a chance with all them straight folks out there that need things a bit more polished than what you have so far.

a suggestion... which I made day one of this thread.. is that you contact the former 'citizens against noise', barry stokes president, and find out who did their legal writing etc. because they were the only organization I know of that has successfully petitioned for and gotten a helicopter company to shut down and move away due to the undesired noise that they were making in the volcano golf course area.

another detail.. and one I have been unable to find a reference to on the net, is I have been told (by professional people that 'should know') that the io has been removed from the endangered species list. something about there being a small be stable population, not a population in decline as their small numbers suggest. you might want to check that out.
