In the old days it was less than a compliment.It was an insult referring to poor people that lived in Puna,and had an added element of "dirt bagger".You get the idea.Now,recently, it is used by some people as a"proud" description of where they live,or want to live.Funny how things work,lol.And of course Punatic rhymes with lunatic,so you draw your own conclusions.Irony abounds,just like a lot of wealthy high nosed people live in Kailua,which means toilet water.Again,communication will forever remain an artful dance.
