Tips on how to deal with mold & mildew
#31
We were in Australia last spring, where there is a large movement to upgrade to LEDs, and bypass the CFL's that this country is embracing (interestingly, both are mainly made in China, & LED's have far less emissions not only in disposal, but also in production & take less energy to manufacture & to run...)
The LED's we saw in Australia are in various formats, with many screw in, multi lamp bulb styles, some even having an array of LED's with multi color LEDs interspersed to give more 'natural' color light. In Australia they were priced a little less than comparable CFL's, and we were wanting to pick some up, along with some gorgeous modern styled lighting fixtures, then realized they are on the European 240V system & the lamps would not get the umpf they need here....Hubby thought about wiring the lighting on 240 just to get these lamps...)
Although I was almost sure that you did not mean for some one to intentionally break lamps to release mercury, some forum reader may think that it would be a good idea (there is no accounting.... people do odd things...)
Last winter the county did have an extra hazardous waste pick up days to deal with all of the broken TV's & such after the October earthquake. We have some fluorescent lamp tubes at the house (hoping to replace all/most lamps with LED) & have them in the shatter tubes to at least semi contain them waste if they break (Hubby had fun years ago at a very OSHA 'safe' company when a desk bridge Fluorescent lamp broke over his desk.....days of paperwork for that cleanup!)
