Number 1 Fact! NELHA was originally made for an electrical generation facility. It was considered a complete failure and was from the start an experiment. The aquaculture was supposed to be a spin off of the money making electricity. Could these companies survive if they had to cover the operation and maintenance of the facility plus rent? Right now there is a major crack somewhere in the system , and a professional meeting is scheduled to fix the leak. It's plastic pipe consult a wide range plumber for repairing plastic, put him with a deep diver/mechanic pastics engineer (field). Give em a plan, support and finance them, or take bids. The UH was instrumental in this and geothermal Well#1, and I think Kohala task force (the biggest flop of all).
The geothermal is the only one left and it has massive potental to do good, but get's little recognition. Because it aint under their control.
Now a substitute is needed, on the west side and again the state tried and a good lot of aquaculture+strawberries and famous limu strains were developed, and it's time they start carrying the load !
