Beachboy, what did you get busted for to warrant so much time? If you don't mind me asking?

let me correct myself. It was a 125 yrs. had I fought the case and lost. I decided to plead out at the advice of my attorney...and ended up with 35 yrs. After four years in Prison I petitioned the King for a Royal Pardon, after 8 months longer King Bhumibol signed it against the wishes of the DEA and American Gov.

I was able to get released faster than any other Americans, with the exception of Gale Roberts who had "Testicle Cancer", and had Gerald Ford write in on his pardon. His father worked with Gerald Ford in some capacity in the private sector. In my situation, I had people within the Thai Military write on my behalf. Most Americans asked the US Embassy for help. Not in my situation, I decided not to use them at all. Why? One reason, the DEA was attached to the American Embassy too, and they made sure every American that applied for a Royal Pardon stayed in prison at least 7 yrs. This time corruption worked in my favor![Wink]

As for conditions in the Thai prison, no complaints here! In about 1987 the Embassy came out to our prison and told us that the Prisoner Treaty Exchange was all in place and only required three signatures. The prisoners sig.,,the signature of the Thai Gov., and the signature of the US Gov. At the time there was 17 of us American prisoners locked up there. Upon all three signatures signed the next move would be to ship us home to the nearest federal prison, and we'd serve out the rest of our time. "So, who wants to sign up and go home"?, asked the Embassy lady....not one American raised their hand. Keep in mind, everybody had at least a 24 yr. sentence, but in most cases over thirty years. Why would we want too do that? Thai prisons are virtually stress free, why go to a place that you must look over your shoulder constantly? In Thai prisons you can have p, spirits, Heroin, pills...and even women three weeks out of the year too. So anytime I here someone say how awful Thai prison was I always call BS on them.
On the dark side of things, one year there was no amnesty for Kings birthday. So our prison had a major riot because of it, and it was rumored that the foreigners(300 foreign prisoners) would be held as hostages as leverage for the Thai inmates( over six thousand).
That never happened, but once the prison was back in control of the proper authorities. What came next will never leave my mind! in our section of the prison, Thais ordered to lay down on the ground face down. They then had their hands tied behind their backs with either red or white rope. What came next gave me nightmares for years. The prison guards starting beating the Thais to a bloody pulp. Turns out the red rope meant beat them beyond recognition, and white rope meant to beat them to death!!!! At the end of what was several days. I saw trash carts piled high with dead Thais in weird contorted positions. It was right at that moment I decided I never wanted to live in Thailand again!

Handle every situation like a dog,If you can't eat it or hump it,piss on it and walk away...
