Your construction contract should include Plans, Specs (whats going into the home) and information about whether the costs are hard costs or just allowances. It should also cover change orders, what it costs to make changes etc. Before you sign, make sure you understand your obligations, what the contractor is going to provide for you, what warranties are included and what time frame the project should be completed in. Get several references and speak to these people. You will know if your contractor is good or bad. Check local lenders who may have worked with him. Make sure of your choices, do your homework and building can be a wonderful experience.
