The assumed cost of Driving in Hawaii
#11

Some factoids from research I did about 5 years ago, regarding driving in Hawaii (data up to 2001):
+ miles per car: fewer than USA average (islands, not continent, make for less long distance driving)
+ cars per per person: increasing (cars increasing even faster than people)
+ miles per gallon of fuel: decreasing (lower fuel efficiency on those newer cars, especially late 1990's through 2001)
+ fuel use per car: increasing (due to lower MPG)
+ total fuel increasing (due to lower MPG and more cars).

...cars: love to hate 'em; hate to love 'em.
