Avoid heading into Hilo from about 7:00am to 8:30am or so. Avoiding heading toward Pahoa from about 4:00pm to 5:30pm. Now, I haven't done those drives recently (in the last few months) since I am usually heading out to Pahoa in the morning and toward Hilo in the afternoon, but that's been the heaviest times I've observed.
