I have a great deal of awe and respect for Kilauea, and volcanoes in general, or Pele', if you prefer. I have no issue with expressions of innocent curiosity and I don't think Pele' was offended by it. The rocks and sticks certainly caused no harm to the flow. I'm sure ancient Hawaiians expressed their curiosity too, although no doubt with more fear. I would object to viewers whose antics rose to the point of detracting from the experience of other viewers. That would be disrespectful. Actions in the presence of other people that offend their true beliefs, is also disrespectful, if that is in fact the case. Viewing nature at it's grandest can certainly rise to that of a near religious experience.
